Yes mom's, cold season is here and every mom always wants to know the best way to keep their kids as comfortable as possible while trying to get them back to good health as quickly as possible. Since their are no cold and cough medicines for our children who are under 6 years of age, we are always looking for ways to help get our kids feeling better.
For their little noses, I use saline nose drops such as Little Noses (or store brand) found in just about any supermarket or drugstore. This helps to thin mucus secretions.
If they are not old enough to blow their nose into a tissue, I gently suction my little one's nose with BebeSounds Nasal Clear battery-operated nasal aspirator. I tell new mommy's all the time that this is a must have.
When they have a cough that seems to keep them up all night, I use Vicks Vapor Rub on their feet! Yes folks - their feet! I rub a generous amount of the Vicks on the bottoms of their feet and toes and then cover their feet with socks. The coughing stops within 15 minutes if not immediately and they are able to sleep soundly the rest of the night. I was so thrilled to have discovered a SAFE and EFFECTIVE way to help sooth my babies at night when they were sick, even as infants. Has anyone else tried Vicks Vapor Rub on your feet? It works on adults, too.
